Betsy Miller Betsy Miller is Counsel at the Washington law firm of Crowell & Moring, where she handles a wide variety of labor and employment litigation and client counseling, and conducts negotiation and mediation advocacy training for attorneys at the firm. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Ms. Miller served as the Chief-of-Staff and Senior Counsel to the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. In that capacity, she was responsible for managing several of the District's high-profile legal issues and policy initiatives, including serving as the lead labor and employment lawyer for the Mayoral "takeover" of the D.C. Public Schools. Ms. Miller’s other government experience includes serving as a Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, where she worked for Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (VT), and clerking for the Honorable Thomas Penfield Jackson, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center since 2001, where she teaches negotiation and mediation. As a consultant for the Kennedy School of Government, she has traveled to Central America to research mediation and arbitration pilot programs. Teaching credits also include negotiation and mediation courses at Harvard Law School's Program for the Instruction of Lawyers. As a consultant, she has provided negotiation skills training for Insight Partners, Mediation Works Inc., Vantage Partners, the Harvard Club of Washington, Fannie Mae, the United States Court of International Trade, Women in Technology, the government of the District of Columbia, and several law firms. Ms. Miller holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
